The NHS Trust Development Authority has produced a film on safe nurse and care staffing to support NHS Trust Directors of Nursing in their aim to provide high quality care for patients.
The film focuses on case studies from the University Hospitals of North Midlands, Walsall Healthcare, Mersey Care NHS Trust and Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust. The Care Quality Commission and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence have also contributed content to the film.
The featured NHS Trusts illustrate how they’ve dealt with the challenges within their organisations of safe staffing levels through recruitment strategies, planning establishments, collecting data and other key strategies, highlighting throughout the impact safe staffing has on the patient.
Nursing Director, Peter Blythin said:
“Safe levels of nurse and care staffing are vitally important for patients, for staff and for everyone involved in the NHS. We hope that by sharing learning and experiences from these four Trusts we can stimulate further work across the NHS trust sector on improved, sustainable nurse and care staffing levels and that we can continue to deliver improvements in patient care.”
